Does it need a logo?

Big news in geeksville with the announcement of a logo for HTML5.

It's a bit corny if you ask me.

But regardless of whether or not I like it the big question for me is why?

HTML5 is a mark up language.

And I'd imagine it's very rarely seen by people.

At least outside of geeksville at any rate.

So does it really need a logo?

A lot of sites use logos at the bottom of CSS or a previous HTML standard. An indication that the page code validates under the exact specifications of HTML.

For a lot of people this is a big deal.

In my opinion it's a nice logo and a serious improvement over previous ones (http://validator.w3.org/images/valid_icons/valid-html40)

i'm with dennis on this one. it helps validate and signify the coding - especially important at the moment for the flash/html5 divide for mobile internet.

and besides, how small do you think geeksville is? i'd say it's probably bigger than the st.kilda football club ;D
